Hi all,
I am done with this first part and find the book very easy to read and understand. The action parts of “Try this” are a nice idea, even though I did not yet really take time to work on them properly. I also have to admit that I still have some doubts, whether such an immense and profound opus as the Baghavad Gita should be summarized in 8 rules only… Shouldn’t we take more time to really study the original text and go into more depths before we read this hand book? But, on the other hand it’s certainly nice to have a summary, as well.
Regarding the first two rules, I completely agree. If I do not know myself well enough and have love for myself, how can I love someone else? I often have the impression that a lot of people didn’t finish these important self-reflections, before starting to go into a serious partnership. My partner and myself try to consciously plan ‘solitude-time’, and I sometimes try out new things alone. Can I go to a restaurant alone? Can I do a city trip alone? Can I do a hike alone?
The second rule regarding Karma is also absolutely true, in my opinion. If you do not learn a Karmic lesson the first time, this lesson will come back to you in your life as often as needed, until you understood it. In other words, it is about learning from errors and build on what is good for oneself and not on what isn’t. And yes, sometimes, this takes several shots.
I mostly appreciated the parts regarding the relationship roles and the first love. It also confirmed some things, I already knew, such as gaps, I want to fill when starting a relationship.
All and all, I am looking forward to the next chapters🙂
