  • Mein liebgewonnenes Buch dieses Jahr ist How to kill your family von Bella Mackie. Herrlich englisch die Geschichte. Ich kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen.

  • Finished the book on Wednesday. I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed about the ending. After the whole build up of the party and the leading to it, i found the end too abrupt. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea *careful…spoiler* that Nina’s off, and we don’t get to hear, what will happen to her after.

I liked the easy-reading style very much. Having a busy schedule in life anyway, it was something to switch off the rest of the world for a moment. Dreaming about the beach is anyway something, we should do more often in life. ;-)

    • I’ve almost reached the end of the book, which means I’m really enjoying it. I enjoy the lightness of the book. How all the characters turn out to be, i find very interesting, even though it’s predictable. I somehow quickly felt which character turns out to be which psychological stereotype of person (I think it speaks for Mrs. Reid’s ability to write).

I can mostly put myself into Nina’s position. I am also the caring one in our family, always thinking about the others first before myself. I wonder how this will turn out for her… 🤔

Switching the timelines is refreshing, because you’ll understand their future better, knowing their past. Well yes, of course Mick’s the one I mostly dislike. But I still wonder, what will happen to his character.

So far I can say, I will certainly read her other books after this one, I like her style.

I’m looking forward to continue reading and to find out what happens at THE party.

    • I am hooked already! :-) love the way she’s unfolding those characters.

    • Hey Fanny, my copy arrived this morning. Will start reading, once the kids are in bed. ;-)

    • Yes, can’t wait for the book! I’m neither a native English speaker, but I’m looking forward having a chat with you all about the book.
