FlakiM also guys I have a small bookstagram account ( https://www.instagram.com/selina_reads/ ) if you would like to follow and we can chat about books via instagram. seems a bit easier than here because there are so many messages floating around
stephiesheena just sent you a request
Raikaslover haha I feel you
mine is like that as well but I am pretty good right now about bringing it down bits by bits
Raikaslover I really liked the first Alice book by Christina Henry; also Lost Boy by her is great: gave my the chills
FlakiM Tea is simply the best
sure, it is a tool, and works like a website. You can plan and organize everything how you want to. For me it functions as a life planner with a a calendar or uni deadlines. I also summarize my lectures there. It is very helpful because you can do a ton with it! Drop down menus, new pages, tables, reminders, calendars, write code, etc. It is never ending. I can really recommend it!
PS: at first it seems kind of intimidating but there are a good amount of tutorials or templates to start with ^^
FlakiM Hi, I am Selina and mostly read in English, except the author is German. My genres are all over the place
I love a good mystery, thriller and crime but also fancy romance, fantasy, YA and NA. I keep track on goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62531880-selina) but also have a small library page on Notion, which I tried to make artsy and aesthetically pleasing. Besides book I love music, fall walks, rainy days, and a good cup of tea. If anyone wants to become friends and talk about books I am always in.
This novel is about a female chemist in the 1960s. This already sparked my interests and it being a bestseller put my hopes up. Thankfully it did not disappoint and would give it 4.5
. I enjoyed the story line and plot very much, the writing style is easy to follow and reads itself smoothly. I am in STEM myself and therefore liked the setting a great deal. Although I really liked this book, there are a few things that bugged me:
- in my opinion not all scientists call the things by their scientific name (I am not yet a scientist but getting there). For instance calling salt sodium chloride while cooking. It seemed to me a bit „stereotypical“
- Almost every other women in this book is put in a bad light. They are simply minded, catty,… the same goes for men, they are almost all portrayed as being misogynistic
- To me this was not a „laugh-out-loud funny“ novel as described on the cover but more quite a sad story from time to time (I will not spoiler).Sure there are some „funnier“ scenes but I thought the description was a bit misleading
Other than that, and these are just my personal opinions, I am really fond of this book and will recommend it nonetheless. It is a good read and gives a clear message, which is still relevant! This novel is about a female chemist in the 1960s. This already sparked my interests and it being a bestseller put my hopes up.
