Hi all, Just wanted to check in and see if there was any English speakers on here? 😁

Not a native speaker, but i read all my Fantasy & Sci Fi in english. Except for german authors cause that would be a bit strange 😉

Hi! Not a native speaker either, but for the past 10-15 years I consumed most media (books, movies, TV series etc.) in English. I’m currently reading two books in German and after all this time it feels.. pretty weird tbh 😅

Tarz34 I’m logically not a native speaker either but I learned it long enough now (and even study English as my minor in university currently), so I am fluent even if I never got rid of the bad mixture of Swiss accent, British English (learned in school) and American English (I learned a lot of it through media too, so in the end it influenced my language as well). 🤣 I read many books in English as well (not sure, what I read more though, I just read what interests me, without caring about the language of the book).

Tarz34 Also not native, but sufficiently fluent to have a reasonable discussion in English. I read a lot of books and articles in English, and watch movies or documentaries in English.

Tarz34 I read mostly fantasy, sometime a thriller or some scifi books. I grew up on Harry Potter, moved over to Lord of the Rings and never left the fantasy genre afterwards 😊 You?

I spent three years in the US and love reading English books. At the moment, I probably read about 50% in English and 50% in German. Looking forward to finding some good English book tipps on here!

Tarz34 I love everything in the fantasy direction, especially urban fantasy/paranormal, adaptations of fairy tales and mythologies and dystopian novels. 😃

Lately predominantly business and mindset related books, “Getting to Yes” (Negotiation) is one I’ve had for a long time and finally started to read it now. I also love novels, classics - or occasionally a thriller / crime story.

It started with me wanting to better my english, then I felt like the language in which it was originally written felt more detailed and accurate, aand now I somehow surrounded myself with english speakers so it’s become my second language 🤣

In any case it wouldn’t be hard to find the books I mean since Miss Belle only ever wrote those two books haha
I’m impatiently waiting for the third book in the series, if she ever makes one!

Well you should know it best if there might be a third part. I doubt that anything more will follow, if the series already has a clear ending. It has been quite a while after all, since they were published and they followed both in the same year as well, so a longer break is unlikely in this situation as well.

Not really a native but married to an American and we only speak English together. With our daughter we also speak only English. So I read books in English unless they are by a German speaking author. My favorite genre is crime, life stories, romance… depends on my mood.
Just started to read Cleire McGowan - Paula Macquire series.

Claudia_Williams sounds like a similar thing with my family! I’m native English speaking, my husband is Swiss, I speak English with my small son while my husband speaks German!

Wow, I’m way late to to conversation. I’m a (Swiss-)German/English native speaker and I read about 90% English books. Currently, I read more German because of the Book Circle and I love Andreas Eschbach, a German author so his books I always read in German but in general I prefer reading in English. 😀
