Mirar I disagree. The wold does not make sense. Here is why:
There is no reason given, why voyants are considered to be “unnatural”. Scion seems not to be religiously motivated, but pretty secular. There is no reason given why or how Scion could conquer other countries, nor what is attracktiv for a government to join Scion. Warfare would weaponize voyant gifts. So Scion would not stand a chance to win a war against the free world.
Art and literature are restricted by Scion. Science would be restricted too. Science is also influenced by art; hence, an art restriction slows advancement further down. Therefore, Scion should progress slower than the free world, because a voyant muse who happens to be a scientist could access the greatest minds from the past. That would give research a whole new boost. As voyants perceive the world differentely, they would massively contribute to their fields of interest.
The numbers in Sheol 1 also make no sense at all: Sheol 1 has very few voyants. The latest Bone Season consisted of 40 voyants as Paige was chosen last. No talk was given about how meagre the Bone Seasons was, so it seems to be an average “harvest”. There are currently only residents from 3 Bone Seasons in Sheol 1. Makes ca. 120-150 potential red jackets. Minus those who died. Under the described conditions min. 4 voyants per year (killed by Rephs or other voyants, injuries, malnutrition, diseases or Buzzers). Summs up to ca. 116 dead voyants over the last 29 years. Minus those who are performers. That leaves less than 30 red jackets to guard Oxford and surroundings.
Does not sound realistic ot me at all.
