cindy1980 Oh, careful not to give too much away for the readers that haven’t reached that point in the story yet. 😉 The book is quite the page turner, so definitely feel free to continue reading if you’re hooked - I’d say for the discussion we stick to the weekly discussion plan so there are no spoilers in advance. 🙂
@Everyone are you ready to chat about section 2 of the book?
evelynfeather I already feel like June’s life is going to end tragically.
You were so right - what a tragic story line! June ends up exactly in the position she never wanted, an addict. The scene in which during the evacuation of the house she decides to take the vodka bottle with her really stuck with me. How do you find the topic of alcoholism discussed in the book?
And just when June is set on changing things around, her story ends. Did her death come as a shock to you or did you see it coming? What’s the impact of their mother’s death on the four siblings, Nina especially? And why didn’t Mick come to the funeral and checked in with his children? Why does he stay completely absent?
Meanwhile, in “present” day, the Riva party is starting to be in full swing and we get to know lots of new characters - Tarine, Tuesday Hendricks, Bridger Miller, Casey… Do you enjoy how the author has woven these supporting characters, the party, the Hollywood glam & gossip into the story?
We have to talk about Brandon. What do you make of him? How would you describe his and Nina’s relationship? And, last but not least, I’m curious how Hud and Ashley’s relationship is going to develop - how is Jay going to react when he finds out about them and the baby?
