«Malibu Rising»
Hi everyone
Thank you for the many registrations for this reading group! I’m thrilled to announce the 20 winners that will be part of our «Malibu Rising» reading group:

Congrats and welcome to our reading group! All of you will be reading the novel «Malibu Rising» by Taylor Jenkins Reid. You’ll each receive a copy of the book via post within the next days.
To all the readers who haven’t won a copy: You’re invited to join this reading group with your own book if you’re interested in reading along & discussing the book. 😊
I’m very looking forward to chatting about «Malibu Rising» with all of you and starting our first English reading group! Leave a comment below – what interested you in taking part in this group? Have you read any other novels by Reid (I personally loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo!)? Are you native speakers, do you often read books in English or is this going to be a new experience for you?
How it works
Our reading group starts next week on Tuesday, 23rd August. Until then, you should have received your reading copies and we can start with the first chapters together. In the meantime, you can already chat and get to know one another in the comments.
We are going to read «Malibu Rising» in three parts and discuss the different parts here in our conversation thread (in written form). We’ll chat about impressions, thoughts, themes, criticism etc. Once we’ve finished the book, you’ll each write and share a personal review of the book here in the community.
Our reading plan 📚
Since we probably all have a slightly different reading pace, we’ll always start our discussions on Fridays. That way we avoid potential spoilers during the week. I’ll open the discussion and from Friday onward you can share comments and thoughts on the chapters we read. If you need a bit longer to finish the planned section, take your time and join the conversation at any point after Friday. After the weekend, we’ll then start with the next part, and so on… 😊
We’ll read and discuss the book as follows:
Week 1, 23rd-30th August: pages 3-111.
Week 2, 30th August - 6th September: pages 112-245.
Week 3, 6th-13th September: pages 246-365.
If you have any questions or inputs in the meantime, just share them here in the comments.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Fanny
