The duo Zigic & Ferreira comes back for a second novel and this one really blew me off.
You have racially motivated crimes of some “hate gang” that attacks defenseless foreigners late at night and beats them to death before leaving. You have a hit and run “accident” at a bus stop that kills two people, one of which is an innocent young woman, who was looking forward to spend her life with her boyfriend. And you have the English National League who tries to win the elections while appeasing social tensions between the English and the foreigners or foreign-looking English.
It was so incredibly well written and followed so many leads that you want to try and guess who the murder of the hit and run is and which are the people responsible for the hate crimes. But all of Zigic’ and Ferreira’s assumption turn out to be wrong or lead to dead ends. As their invistigation gets more media coverage, they are under pressure to deliver results fast. And when they finally get one step closer to the truth… I won’t spoil, but this is one amazing novel!
Now I have a third novel of Eval Dolan in my bookshelf which has nothing to do with Zigic and Ferreira, but after that I need to get back to those two.
