Kommeno Island, Greece: A woman washes ashore without knowing who she is or how she got to this island.
Twickenham, London: Eloise Shelley is missing, and her family desperately seeks answers. There seems to be no foul play, but something does not feel right for her husband, Lochlan. He begins to find the missing pieces.
I was positively surprised by the turn the story was taking. What was first thought of as a sole crime story transformed itself into a crime fiction with a connection to reality. At first, I wasn’t aware of it, but I began to realise that there is more behind Eloise’s appearance in Greece. The hints were always there, those hints revealed just the right amount of information that kept me guessing the whole way.
The parts where Eloise seems to lose control of reality are deeply troubling to read, and the author writes about topics that are often left unspoken in society. I wouldn’t have thought this story would take such a turn. Impressive and well-created story, disturbing and troubling in some parts. There should be more of that kind.
