The setting in Egypt combined with the fantasy/magical elements was what made me buy this book and in the whole it was a good and entertaining read. Nevertheless, I was slightly disappointed, mainly because the main character Inez acted quite rashly and naive more often than not. Also a lot would have been easier if the characters would have simply spoken honestly with each other. Even though the author did a great job with researching ancient Egypt, I’m not sure if the same is true for the 19th century. The expressions and romance story seem to fit more into 21th century. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the read a lot and I’m definitively buying the second volume!
