I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve always wondered about the backstory of Queen Clarion and Lord Milori in the Tinkerbell films. In the film “Secret of the Wings” a love story is hinted at, and ever since then I’ve always wanted to know what happened and why and how he broke his wing.

Well, now I know! This book tells exactly that story: How the young (soon-to-be) Queen Clarion meets Lord Milori and how they fall in love (and of course save Pixie Hallow, because what would a good Disney story be without impending doom/j)

The story is very engagingly written and I couldn’t put the book down! I love the development of the characters, especially Queen Elvira. How she starts out as a helpful but strict teacher and mother figure, develops into an almost overbearing figure when her queendom is in jeopardy, but eventually realises her mistakes and supports Clarion on her way to the throne. Also, the background love story of Petra (Clarion’s best friend) and Artemis (Clarion’s guardian) was lovely to read! (They’re also the first recognised faeries to have a lesbian relationship, which I’m very happy about. Especially since the book is officially from Disney, and we all know Disney and diversity have their difficulties ).

All in all, a great read for all fairy and fantasy lovers! (For anyone who wants a bit of a change from all the explicit books, because at most they kiss, and I find that quite refreshing).
