Yumi and Nikaro, two very different people with vastly different lifes and from seemingly different worlds, are suddenly connected to each other by their souls and must find out what is needed to be done and why this happened to them. This is the basic plot.
Everything in between is so much that I can’t explain it at all. But it was a wonderful journey!
This is my first Brando Sando (I call him that because it’s shorter then Brandon Sanderson and it also sounds fun) book and it was quite a challenging one but I loved all of it, the anime inspired world, such as “Your Name” and “Hikaru no Go”, the interactions between Yumi and Nikaro, especially their growth, the twists and turns and side characters. I also loved that they had no idea why this connection happened in the first place, only slowly figuring stuff out and that’s why the big moments of reveal felt so rewarding. The romance felt natural and that’s what made it so special.
At some point I was so confused about all of it, so I was glad the author explained all the things the way he did, as we had the narrator literally explain to us what exactly is happening. That might not be for everyone, but for me it worked perfectly.
I can recommend this to everyone who is looking for a complex fantasy book with relatable characters that have depth and real growth and for fans of japanese/korean inspired worlds! <3
