A kid goes missing, not just any kid, the daughter of the summer camp owners she was allowed to spend the summer, Barbara van Laar. Years earlier, her brother went missing too, in the same place. And they say a killer is on the loose… Set in the 70s in a summer camp in the woods, this thriller sounded very promising since this is a setting horror movies are made of.
What I got was something quite different. A slow-paced thriller, full of family secrets where everyone is desperate to keep theirs safe, characters with rich stories, connections and backgrounds that keep you guessing what exactly happened. The different perspectives made it all even better!
I partially read and listened to it and the narrator did a great job, too.
It really is a book you can enjoy during a hot summer day or an early fall evening, it sets the mood for a dark family story.
