I was very excited when I was chosen to participate in a reading circle for this book. And although many people seemed to be disappointed by the book, I really enjoyed it. The story sucked me in and it kept me awake until early morning hours. I liked the way the story developped and since I don‘t usually mind beinh confused while reading, I also enjoyed the magic system.

However, i understand the critics: it‘s quite a confusing book since the magic system is very complex and numerous aspects seem to not make sense. I also had a really hard time connecting to the main characters while being more interested in seemingly unimportant side characters.

Did I enjoy the book? Yes. Will I continue the seties? Probably not, I was satisfied with the first book and at the moment have no interest of continuing the story.

I do like the writing style though, so I will probably pick up some other books by the author.
