It’s a very funny premise and I loved Miles and his Crocs. But for me it wasn’t funny enough. And if the funny part is found lacking then you need to step up the romantic one. But that didn’t happen either. So what I did get was a story about two likable characters who got dumped, eventually fall in love with each other but also have to deal with a lot of family trouble and general life stuff. Which is not bad, it’s actually quite alright, it’s just not super fun. Therefore not what I signed up for. I think I prefer my romcoms sillier because however serious you are trying to get with the entire „family trauma plot“, if it happens in the same book as the „fake dating“ / „surprise kiss in front of my ex“ I’m probably not going to be as emotionally invested as the author would like me to be. At least here I wasn’t. So yes, it was fun, it was an easy read, but there are so many other books that fit into these two categories that you could easily read something else. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t exactly love it either so let’s move on.
