Actually, I bought this book last year with the intention of reading it in the summer 2023. However, it always got pushed back in my to-be-read-list and only reappeared like a week ago to be considered. And when I started it, I finished it in less than two days. The story and its characters captivated me, and I wanted to get to know them and their backstories. It is not only a story about friendship (who wouldn’t want to have a Vee in their life?), about forgiveness (forgiving oneself is sometimes the hardest) and family (what do you do, when it’s complicated?), but also about dealing with a toxic relationship and abuse (Hollywood sends its greetings) and tearing down walls one has built around one’s heart. Some scenes, like when Sonny is working as a location scout or she and our hermit of the Indigo Isle are making indigo dye, are interesting, some scenes made me ponder, and others were tear-jerking. All in all, it is a book that definitely has re-read value for me.
