Funny story starts with the rather unfunny fact that Peter drops Daphne for his childhood friend Petra. Thus, Daphne ends up to move in with Miles who is Petra‘s ex. From the very beginning Daphne counts the days until she can move away from Waning Bay where she only moved to because of Peter, and she also realizes that all her friends are in fact Peter‘s friends.
While Daphne slowly starts making her own friends, and in addition Miles is showing her the nicest places in Waning Bay, the reader learns about why Daphne is counting the days and if in the end she will stay or go.
