You could call it a transgression, a violation even, not having read the book to your favorite movie of all time sooner. I toyed with the thought of reading it for the longest time. But strangely enough, I wanted the movie to be untouched or rather my reception of it untainted. It had to do with either fear and/or deference. But then again, I have long since learned to separate movies and books… Also I think there is a specific time for some books to be read; I had it in my possession for quite some time but never dared to touch it.
Well, seems like the time has come and gone.
I’ve got nothing to say about the book. Or rather I don’t have to say anything but this:
It’s just peak fiction.
It complements the movie so well (chronologically speaking it’s the other way round but I speak from my experience), puts emphasis on different aspects (my god the relationship between Amalthea and Lír!), and the language, oh the language!
It feels like a double star system now, the movie and the book, both revolving aroud a common but invisible gravitational center.
It’s just so peak…
