„There were many ways to be alienated from someone, few to actually belong.“
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
what an amazingly unique fiction novel this is! the story is so special which makes it so intriguing, even though some times it is really slow. the writing is easy to follow, but the pov‘s sometimes are a bit confusing and boring at certain times.
still i was interested in the storylines the whole book and thought the slow parts fit into a normal life as well. it’s an interesting book about racism and feelings and being yourself and the whole journey of finding yourself and how your view on life can actually have a huge impact on it.
📖 The twin sisters where born into a small town in a black community. However identical they are, once they grow up they couldn’t be more different. after they run away together, one of the twins runs off alone and starts a new life living it as a white person marrying a white man, who doesn’t know her upbringing. the other one marries another black man. they both have little girls, who couldn’t be more different as well. we follow the twins and their girls through life, through their problems and fears.
the story not only shows issues of race, yet also how decision, desires and expectations shape your entire existence.
