First of all, I was drawn to the cover of this book. It’s not only marvellous but also matches the beauty of the story. The book tells the adventure of a young girl trying to understand her place in the world and the use of her special voice that can sing miracles into the world. Set in a fantasy world the book talks about the importance of having trusted friends, learning to think critically, and trusting one’s own abilities and convictions. It is full of hope, even when Elissa, our main character, faces difficulties and sometimes doesn’t know what the future will bring. Also, music is obviously a main theme in this book, and I liked this aspect very much. Altogether, I enjoyed reading a children’s book again and I had the heavy impression, that the Christian belief has influenced the moral of the story rather heavily, which is a huge plus for me. (Some details might ignite heated discussions between different denominations, but that’s a whole other story.) In conclusion, a fantastic tale about a brave girl.
