A chillingly creepy gothic horror story in an isolated mansion in the 1950’s in Mexico. A young woman tries to save her cousin from a dark secret hidden beneath mushrooms, moss and dirt.
This book kept me hooked and forced me to keep reading! It was just really creepy and fits perfectly into the gothic horror genre. It was just twisted in all the right ways and really bloody and disgusting. The pace at which things were happening was also really good, some parts were incredibly fast paced and I just had to rush through them because I could not stop. I really liked Noemi, the main character in the book. She was very brave and faced these grotesque things that I can’t even think about, it was soooo disgusting. Silvia Moreno-Garcia just writes her main female characters so well and varied, they have their flaws which make them humaine.
