The story picks up right where the first three Starcrossed- novels ended. Helen has fought Zeus and put him in her world as a prisoner. But the calm days of being ordinary school kids with godlike powers don‘t last very long. Zeug is fighting his prison and weakening Helen from the inside and if he gets out, he‘ll destroy all of them.
Helen also has relationship troubles: Lucas disappears every night misteriously and won‘t tell her what he‘s doing.
Finally, after a warning by Hecate, Helen goes with Orion and Hector to New York.
I loved the starcrossed series when I was about sixteen but I do think continuing it was a bit of a mistake. Especially because Angelini still seems to write to those fifteen year olds when I assume most of the targeted audience is older now. I did have to get used to the language, which seemed very simple at times, plus the dialogues, the jealous and bossy guys and the constant making-out‘s - I didn‘t really like it.
Also - really Josephine Angelini? Still the love triangle between Helen, Orion and Lucas?
