From the bookcover: „Natalya Fox has twenty-four hours to make the biggest choice of her life: stay home in NYC for the summer with her dad (and finally screw up the courage to talk to the girl she‘s been crushing on), or spend it with her basically estranged mom in LA, knowing this is the best chance she has to fix their relationship.“
Choosing between your parents is always hard, and especially for Natalya, who doesn‘t really like change and new things. So, deciding on one thing seems entirely too difficult and eventually we get two timelines.
In New York Natalya finally meets the Redhead - Elly Knight - and tries to have more contact with her mother, eventhough she didn‘t go to LA.
In LA, Natalya awaits a constantly working mother and desk-sharing at her internship with the douchiest-looking guy ever: Adam Rose.
I was really invested in the idea of this book and I think it was written down quite nicely, I always knew in which timeline I was and the changes seemed equally paced and the chapters had a good length.
Both cities were palable to me and Dahlia Adler perfectly captured the mood of summer, with one spent at the Beach and one in the city.
Aside from this, did I found the story itself a bit boring and Natalya grew increasingly annoying? Especially her attitude towards work and her future job was very weird. This made the overall impression of the book rather disappointing.
