Video games were hardly a rope to a better life, but Tomb Raider still offered a kind of escape, if only in her mind. - Devon*

I went pretty blind into The Book Eaters as it was added to my TBR and book collection through a subscription box (this case Illumicrate). At first, when the story described ‘devouring books’, I imagined the methodical way of reading a lot of books. However I quickly realised Book Eaters are actually a unique spin to the Vampire mythology.
Personally I wouldn’t quite categorise this story under Horror, but more Urban Fantasy. The characters and the background of the Eaters was quite complex, which is probably the biggest reason it kept me going. Somehow, I can’t describe The Book Eaters other than a strange, interesting read. On the other hand, I never read more than 50 pages in one go, so I ended up taking quite a few to finish 295 pages. But I cannot put a finger on why the story didn’t suck me in as much as I thought it would.
