I have not read a lot of romance novels so far, but Funny You Should Ask was a great start into the genre. I really enjoyed reading the book. It was a light read, the plot was fairly interesting, I liked the characters (but I have to say that I think they were somewhat immature for 30/40-something-year-olds…)
After finishing this novel, I read some reviews on Goodreads and I was surprised to learn that Funny You Should Ask is inspired by Edith Zimmerman’s interview with Chris Evans. This made me curious, so - of course - I had to read the real interview, and now I am a little bit disappointed, because the GQ-interview and Sussman’s novel are very very similar - in fact, Funny You Should Ask is just the book version of this interview. Elissa Sussman could have at least mentioned her source of inspiration…
However, I rated the novel according to the first impression I had. It was exactly what I expected it to be and I had a great time with the book and this was what I needed right now.
