A glimpse behind the curtain of a celebrity on and off the stage.
After reading many reviews and recommendations, the time was right to build my own opinion. Despite being a novel on the romantic side, which is not my favorite, but I gave it a try. And I was blown right away by the style of writing, so refreshing and the words were appropriately chosen. In some parts, it seemed so real, the forthright telling impressive. The structured writings seem to be the author’s trademark, which makes the novel very easy to read and follow. Especially the significant parts I favored the most. There may be pieces of wisdom you could apply to your own life or others you better not. Particularly close to the end when everything unfolds, you begin grasping the meaning, that there is more than just the seven marriages of Evelyn Hugo.
But what I didn’t expect was that end, conclusive but still sad. I would have thought of a happier end, but maybe the author saw this as more fitting.
Now after completing it, I must say that I have enjoyed the novel. It’s a good choice for when you want to read something easy to understand, a nice read on a holiday.
I will possibly look into the other books the author has written.
