I’ve only read one Stephen King novel so far, and I still don’t know whether or not I’ll devote much time to his novels in the future. But when I learned that Fairy Tale, a fairy tale-inspired story, had been published, I was immediately hooked. Growing up, fairy tales were always an important part of my life. That’s probably when I started getting excited about stories and books. Especially for The Little Mermaid. And by that I mean first and foremost the original fairy tale by Andersen. I wasn’t sure if I would pick up the book version to read it. But the decision was made the moment I listened to the first chapter, narrated by Seth Numrich. What really surprised me was how emotionally invested I was in the relationship between Charlie and Mr. Bowditch. And, of course, in Radar. The first 200 pages or so were such a soothing listen. After that, it became a fast-paced story reminiscent of childhood. The protagonist really grew on me. Honestly, it’s hard to write a review right now that doesn’t spoil anything. There is so much I want to talk about that would be a spoiler. Ultimately, I can say this: this will probably be my favorite King book (if I manage to read more of his novels) and I loved every minute I listened to it!!
