I enjoyed this second part much more than the first part. But it was as easy to read, so I had to stop myself from finishing the whole book in one go 🙂
First, I liked the passage where Sam and Patch became friends and spent some time together. However, the ending was a little sad. I also really liked it when Patch and Tessa finally talked and understood each other. I appreciate the switch from the whole “desperately searching for a boyfriend” to seeing the true values of friendships.
I mean, a romantic gesture doesn’t always have to be public. For example, for me, it would be the worst to receive a big romantic gesture in public for everybody to see and wait for my reaction. I also think it might be more of a cliché. One gesture doesn’t “kitt” everything. I think it is more about showing up and sticking to it, but a big gesture would be impressive.
During the first part, we got to know them as best friends, and it was truly a nice friendship. I understand Patch’s initial reaction. Getting to know him during the process of the book, it makes absolute sense how he reacted. Jean tried to explain herself, however, Patch didn’t listen. Jean was also very fair not to tell Tessa’s story. Probably, both of them could have reacted differently. But it is good to see that Patch realised that he is not only the victim but that a big part of it is his fault. I believe they will get their friendship back and even have space for Tessa 🙂
“Spending time” for a teenager is for sure different. They need more stimulation and probably have more energy 🙂 it does remind me about my teenage years and how I spent my time with friends. And if they didn’t have time, I didn’t know what to do with my life 🙂
I am very curious how the musical will tune out and if Sam and Patch also find back to each other, and my guess from the beginning will be true in the end. I could see that they would be a big group of friends with Tessa, Sam and Peter. And I still believe that Patch’s first boyfriend will be Sam 🙂
