The death of Ivan Ilych is a book that leaves you questioning your entire life. Ivan who plays a decent role in society with a well respected job, some friends and a typical family falls fatally ill. Doctors try their best but can’t really detect what’s wrong. Ivan slowly comprehends that he is going to die and that there is no other option. Throughout the book we get feel the extremely difficult situation he is in and how meaningful life in general is. He is slowly excepting his coming and even though he tries to fight it till the end. I think the most important part he realises throughout his journey to death is that everyone is going to die alone. Death and how to deal with it is a topic what concerns every one of us but the actual part of dying has to be dealt with alone. This story shows the emotional difficulty of death beautifully. It keeps you thinking about your whole life and its ending.
