In a world where the Elites have all kinds of powers and Ordinaries are shunned from society, it is unfortunate that Paedyn is exyctly that - an Ordinary without any powers, living on the streets, trying to survive with her best friend Adena. After rescuing one of the princes, Kai, she is forced to participate in the Purging Trials, which can be very deadly. Can she still convince everyone that she has psychic powers, like she pretended to have all her life and fight her way through the trials?
Usually I am careful with “TikTok made me buy it” books. But sometimes I want to know what that hype is about and I am quite happy that I picked this one up! I loved the characters and the worldbuilding and enjoyed the bickering between Paedyn and Kai. Some aspects of the book reminded me a bit of Hunger Games, with the trials and the interviews. It was also refreshing to read a story where we don’t have a bunch of spicy scenes, the relationships are evolving slowly, and that is very intruiging, it’s quite the slow burn. But it’s still sexy 😉
I know what I’ll be doing this weekend sicen the second book just came out! 🙈
