Listen, I’m only here because I love Gabriel Picolo’s art and knowing that Beast Boy is his favourite Titan, I wanted to give this a try. Mind you I’ve never watched anything Teen Titans related before, I only know the bare minimum about them from Gabriel’s fanart that he posts online, so I am as impartial as one can be. Considering that, I’m still kinda disappointed with this book.
The writing is just bad, all over the place and not captivating at all. I didn’t feel engaged one bit even though I was so damn curious about Gar’s power. A boy that can turn into animals, are you kidding me? Sign me up. Yet here we are with bland storytelling, needless sideplots and admittedly interesting characters that sadly have no space to unfold properly.
In the future I’ll just stick with Picolo’s personal Titans drawings, I feel like he’s able to tell us far better stories through them than this entire book did in 180 pages.
