Mal ganz abgesehen davon, dass der Song “Powerless” von Linkin Park mein Liebingssong ist, hat mich dieses Buch nicht mehr losgelassen. Und klammert immer noch in meinen Gedanken. Am Anfang war ich etwas skeptisch nach dem ich all die Kommentare hier gelesen habe, dass die Geschichte sehr nahe an Tribute von Panem ist. Aber diese Bedenken verflogen bereits ab den ersten drei Seiten. Klar, das mit den Spielen kommt Panem verdammt nahe, ABER die Chemie zwischen Pae und Kai. Können wir mal bitte darüber reden, wie diese “Enemies to Lovers”-Story sich im Moment als Dauermieter in meinem Kopf eingenistet hat?! Nur schon alleine wie die Charakter der beiden Beschrieben sind. Sie, eine starke junge Frau, welche definitiv nicht auf den Mund gefallen ist. Und er, der genau weiss wie er sie aus der Reserve locken kann ohne dass es müehsam wird. Wie die ganze Welt und auch die Nebencharakter aufgebaut sind macht wirklich Spass das Buch zu lesen. Also Band zwei sollte morgen mit der Post bei mir eintreffen.

After rescuing one of the princes, Kai, she is forced to participate in the Purging Trials, which can be very deadly. Can she still convince everyone that she has psychic powers, like she pretended to have all her life and fight her way through the trials? Usually I am careful with “TikTok made me buy it” books. But sometimes I want to know what that hype is about and I am quite happy that I picked this one up! I loved the characters and the worldbuilding and enjoyed the bickering between Paedyn and Kai. Some aspects of the book reminded me a bit of Hunger Games, with the trials and the interviews. It was also refreshing to read a story where we don’t have a bunch of spicy scenes, the relationships are evolving slowly, and that is very intruiging, it’s quite the slow burn. But it’s still sexy I know what I’ll be doing this weekend sicen the second book just came out!
