Read this one in just 1 day, just couldn’t put it down anymore. Olive has to convince her best friend, that she’s on a date, having a good time. So she just kisses the first man on her way. To bad it’s a professor. Surprisingly he agrees to their fake relationship and it turns out, he isn’t quite as big an ass, as he is known for. Lots of “lol” situations, lovable character, and oh there is spice (just saying chapter 16). An absolut “must read” for every romance fan. Already got a new book from Ali Hazelwood, hope it turns out as just as much fun.

Ich habe das Buch auf Englisch gelesen. Dabei war es einfach zu verstehen und fliessend zu lesen. Die Autorin bringt die Geschichte und die Gefühle der Protagonistin unglaublich gut rüber. Das Buch ist sehr unterhaltsam und unglaublich witzig geschrieben. Ich hatte nach dem Lesen der Beschreibung zuerst etwas Bedenken, dass es ein Buch zum Fremdschämen ist. Das ist jedoch überhaupt nicht der Fall, da es so unterhaltsam und verständnisvoll geschrieben ist! Alles in allem eines der besten Bücher, die ich seit langem gelesen habe.

Super romamtisches Buch welches sehr angenehm zu lesen war. Die spannung zieht sich durch das ganze Buch. Die Gefühle werden sehr gut beschrieben. Gute Wendung am ende und es kommen auch ernstere Themen darin vor. Habe es geliebt, super angenehm in englisch zu lesen. Kann dieses buch nur weiterempfehlen

Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass ich dieses Buch innerhalb von einer “Sitzung” verschlungen habe. Ich konnte es einfach nicht mehr weglegen. Das Buch handelt von Olive und Adam, welche beide an der gleichen Universität sind, Olive als Studentin und Adam als Lektor. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Fake-Beziehung, welcher beide zustimmen, nachdem sie sich im Korridor “ausversehen” küssen. Beide brauchen eine Ausrede, um nicht mehr von ihren Freunden genervt zu werden. Und huiii, das Buch ist definitiv nicht für unter 16. Das Knistern zwischen den beiden ist förmlich greifbar und ich finde es toll, dass in diesem Buch Frauen in STEM repräsentiert werden, da dass doch sehr selten vorkommt. Das Buch ist gut geschrieben und auch Adam finde ich perfekt als männlichen Hauptcharakter, da er Olive und auch ihr Studium respektiert und nicht versucht, ihr dabei zu helfen.

It’s been a long time since I have read a purely romance book. However after seeing this book literally everywhere and everyone singing it’s praises, I thought it about time to jump on TLH bandwagon. Ali Hazelwood’s debut novel, The Love Hypothesis, is entertaining and delivers perfection from start to finish. It deserves the praise that everyone has been giving it. Hazelwood’s writing is fun, gripping and fast paced. The fake-dating storyline is also intertwined with serious subjects and authentic situations which creates more depth to the narrative. Hazelwood’s depiction of women in STEM and Academia is superbly done and how women can encounter additional obstacles in a field dominated by men. Olive is smart, determined and loyal yet also awkward and vulnerable. Adam is seen as rude and lacking compassion, but readers slowly see his true colours. The romance between Olive and Adam is so cute. Their chemistry is so insane and the banter between the characters is kind of my favorite part about this book. Overall The Love Hypothesis is a refreshingly cute and yet steamy romance with amazing characters. This has joined my favorite reads.

Wie in vielen Liebesromanen oder Liebesfilmen waren einige Handlungen vorhersehbar, was das Buch meiner Meinung nach aber nicht weniger gut macht. Die „Fake-Beziehung“ zwischen Olive und Adam ist so unterhaltend, dass ich beim lesen immer wider schmunzeln musste. Als sich dann die Gefühle von Olive im Laufe des Buches ändern, wollte ich das Buch kaum noch aus der Hand legen, da man trotz der teilweise vorhersehbaren Geschehnisse mitfiebert und wissen möchte, ob alles gut geht. Dass das Buch an einer Universität spielt, war für mich zudem ein für ein Liebesroman ungewohnt erfrischendes Setting. Auch Olives Freunde Anh und Malcolm bringe zusätzlich frischen Wind in die Geschichte. Zusammenfassend ein sehr unterhaltender, leicht leserlicher und gut geschriebener Liebesroman - definitiv ein Muss für jeden Liebesroman-Fan.

I’ve seen a few raving TikTok’s and other glowing reviews about this book, but since so many of them focused on the steamy part I categorized it with some of my more disappointing reads this year - even though I hadn’t read it (yes, unfortunately I am cynical like that at times). But curiosity killed the cat, or revived it in my case, I guess, since I really enjoyed this book! Is it corny in some places? Yup! Are there a few too many happy coincidences for it to be all the way authentic? Sure. Did I still have butterflies by proxy whenever Adam was with Olive and she didn’t pick up on his endearing actions and words towards her? Heck yeah! Although some happenings and situations seemed very cliché and too coincidental, the reactions and interactions within them were so authentic that I couldn’t really put the e-reader down. The way their friendship and relationship grew was wonderful to read (slow burns are my thing). It had NOTHING of the dreaded insta-love feeling, and wasn’t really that cliché-ladden. Ok, maybe a bit ;P But I feel like the author managed to get a good balance and found the sweet spot. She broke just as many clichés as she used them. Even the drama that, next to the fake-relationship obviously, served as the main plot-driver was deliberately placed, and executed very well. It was incorporated well into the story. I didn’t feel like the author picked something at random and threw it in there, and I appreciate that. Last but not least, I very much enjoyed the author’s style of writing. Especially the quirky moments and funny interactions seem to be one of her fortes. There’s really no way around loving Olive and Adam or their friends Anh, Malcolm and Holden. Overall, I’m very glad that I’ve read this book and didn’t listen to my petty self. To be honest though, I’m a bit annoyed that it’s being made out to be this steam fest when the best thing about this book is the development of the relationship, the drama, and the fact that the author clearly knows what she writes about. It’s unmistakeable that she knows a thing or to (or a hundred) about science and everything surrounding it.
