London 1890, the 24th of October is the night when a gruesome and chilling murder happened. This killing was performed in a way that turned on the speculation that Jack the Ripper was a woman. Around that time the most sensational though mysterious case, and people still talk about it today. As this is a journey back through history, the author not only gives an account of how the murder happened, but she also gives an insight into how a trial was conducted in 1890. The description of the suspect’s childhood is well researched, despite the parts that got missing during the years, and may never be filled. I thought this book was very informative, really a journey back in time. I enjoyed reading about the different ways to investigate around that time, far from what we know today. I think there will always be room for speculation, one might see a connection where others don’t. This book answers many questions and others are left open to build your own opinion about if those rumours are true or not. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys true crime with a historical background.
