Ken Liu has an absolutely enchanting writing- and story-telling- style. In a lot of his stories, he presents a question on how technology could evolve and what upsides and downsides it could bring with it, and when you think he’s presented the idea he meant to present, he manages to throw in a curve-ball and spin the idea even further, weaving traditions (like f.e. traditional Chinese beliefs) into the story. He balances the stories so brilliantly that you can’t help being in awe. The Paper Menagerie and his other Short-story book The Hidden Girl are my favourite re-reads, also because you can read a story and then set the book aside and think about the story. Highly recommended!
