        Das beste epische Gedicht, das ich je gelesen habe

        Paradise Lost ist das beste epische Gedicht, das ich je gelesen habe. Geschrieben im 17. Jahrhundert folgt das Epos Luzifers Rebellion gegen Gott und seine Verbannung aus dem Himmel. Dieses Ereignis hat Einfluss auf Adam und Eva, denn Luzifer verführt die beiden, die daraufhin ebenfalls aus dem Paradies verbannt werden. Die Sprache ist atemberaubend. Die Bitterkeit und Enttäuschung sind spürbar in diesem Epos. Das Misstrauen gegenüber der Autorität entlarvt die Grausamkeit des Christentums. Es ist die Geschichte jedes gescheiterten Rebellen verpackt in die christliche Mythologie. Schlussendlich geht es nicht um Göttlichkeit sondern um einen höchst menschlichen Kampf gegen empfundene Ungerechtigkeit. Ich empfehle, das Buch im Original zu lesen. Die Poesie ist phänomenal.
