Hello everyone, so like most people I’m not native in English but love the language and the culture. Also I did a Bachelor degree in English a couple of years ago (*cough* like nearly 10 years ago *cough cough* getting old).
This year I’m participating to a challenge to deal with my TBR pile and thus I’ve been mostly committing to it. Obviously I read some new books as well or books for the book club I’m in. We’re reading in English - original or translations.
I tend to read more originals than translations when I know the language, save some non-fiction I found sometimes easier to read in French. 🙂
For the challenge I’ve done a fancy excel sheet, where I can track my progress and I also use this platform here to make collections of the books I’ve read this year. Some French titles are not in OF’s webshop, so they still count as read on my list 😉
@stephiesheena I would like to re-read Harry Potter, but then I’d have to buy the books again and I don’t feel comfortable spending money on JK Rowling because of her political views… It’s just not possible. But I might consider borrowing them at the library.
@Lor I’ve read exactly one Joe Nesbo and it’s definitely not my vibe. Too superficial for my taste.
@Raikaslover Oh I haven’t heard of Storytel, I will check it out. I’m using Audiobooks.com right now and last listened to On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong and read by the author, it was really… wow. A beautiful book.
So I’m currently reading an Italian crime novel which has been on my TBR pile for too long and I’m sort of rereading a non-fiction book (in French) from Alan Watts.
My next read are The Stories of Eva Luna from Isabel Allende for the Book Club and a Greedy: Notes From a Bisexual Who Wants Too Much by Jen Winston (which is not yet on my TBR pile). If I have enough Time I will also read Eva Luna by Isabel Allende to get a bit more insight in this character. We’ll see.
