Love letters, enemies to lovers, angry gods and a devastating war. A beautiful story about how it feels to find love even in the darkest places and how love (platonic or romantic) can give you strength you could have never imagined. It was such a pleasure to dive into this wonderful world full of newspapers and typewriters and magic. To follow this young, determined woman along her journey and to see her grow from chapter to chapter. Impeccable writing, strong protagonists and a most romantic love story. And the letters, I mean the entire book is beautifully written, but the letters are the ones that make you pull out your pens/phones to write down the quotes. Every time I saw the typewriter font I knew I was in for some heartbreak. The letters give the love story this little extra spark that makes it so special and beloved. Unfortunately the worldbuilding fell a little flat. I understand it’s only a duology and we do have a strong focus on the romance, but if you go for fantasy you need to extend your descriptions (about the gods and the war and the history…) or stop mentioning so much stuff without following up on it. Well done fantasy needs more pages and a little more effort. A fun YA read with a lovely romance.
