Eine ruhige Geschichte, die doch viel sagt und viel schafft. Das Buch ist im Original 1988 erschienen, also schon ein paar Jahre alt. Für sein Alter und dafür, dass es von Japan kommt, ist “Kitchen” eine grosse Leistung, denn eine der Nebenfiguren ist transsexuell. Sie wird von allen als ganz normal angechaut und nicht durch ihre Sexualität definiert, was mich das Buch noch mehr lieben liess. Ansonsten hat es die typische japanische Atmosphäre, ist toll geschrieben und behandelt das Thema Verlust wirklich hervorragend.

If you’re a “Heartstopper” Fan, please read this one too! It is heartwarming in the best way possible and sooooo adorable.

Von der Beschreibung her, hatte ich mir eine Mischung aus “Giovannis Zimmer” und “Call me by Your Name” erhofft. Ich wollte Leidenschaft, die ich so nicht bekommen habe. Das Buch ist sehr politisch, man erfährt viel über die Folgen des 2. Weltkrieges in Polen. Es hat eine wundervolle Sprache und ich hoffe, dass bald ein weiteres Buch des Autors erscheinen wird, in welches ich mit anderen Erwartungen lesen werde. Ohne bereits gewisse Vorstellungen gehabt zu haben, hätte mir dieses Buch noch viel besser gefallen.

Vielleicht lese ich es ein anderes Mal erneut.

Wer griechische Mythologie man, wird auch dieses Buch mögen, so wie ich. Leider wird das Buch für mich viel zu sehr in den Himmel gelobt, dass ich erwartete, das beste Buch auf Erden zu lesen. Das war nicht der Fall. Die Sprache ist toll, aber nicht umwerfend, aber die Figuren sind wundervoll. Viele bringt das Ende zum weinen. Mich nicht. Vielleicht habe ich eine harte Schale, denn natürlich habe auch ich mitgefiebert. Aber wenn man sich gut mit den griechischen Sagen auskennt, weiss man schon, wie das ganze Endet.

Trotzdem hat mir das Buch, dank den Charakteren, sehr gut gefallen.

Meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch wurden nicht ganz erfüllt. Es geht vielmehr um die Selbstfindung in den 20er Jahren, als um die Beziehung der beiden Frauen. Was auf keinen Fall schlecht ist. Es lässt der Geschichte einfach nicht genug Platz, die Charaktere auszubauen. Selbst die Geliebte von Honeygirl bekommt meiner Meinung nach viel zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit, man lernt sie gar nicht richtig kennen und kann somit für die beiden nicht wirklich mitfiebern, was sehr schade ist.

Mir gefiel allerdings die Idee des Buches und die Fragen über das Erwachsenwerden, welche das Buch behandelt. Daher ist es noch immer ein lesenswertes Buch, einfach nicht mein liebstes.

This is another book you should no as litte as possible about other than that it is for older young adults, it’s about friendship, mistery and that it extremely atmospheric. I just absolutely adored it. It is one of the tiktok book I can highly recommend myself.

The only other book that comes to mym mind, that is similar in atmosphere, is “Watch over me” by Nina LaCour.

Klara ist eine künstliche Intelligenz, deren Aufgabe es ist, für ein Kind Freund:in zu sein. Das Buch ist nicht Scinece-Fiction, es geht um philosophische Themen, die durch die Augen von Klara angeschaut wird. Das finde ich ein sehr interessantes Konzept. Philosophie hat mit dem Geist zu tun und kann eine wissenschaftliche Erfindung so weit gehen, um den Geist des Menschen sich anzueignen?

Die Sprache ist sehr zugänglich, nur die Thematik regt zum nachdenken an.

Ein ganz spannendes Buch eines grossartigen Autors.

Jon Klassen (together with Chris Riddel) is my favorite illustrator and the Hat Trilogy are my absolute favorite picture books. Therefore I was so excited for this new book, but unfortunately is wasn’t as funny as his other works, but still okey. The art is still incredible. It was just not what I wanted it to be.

If you don’t know Jon Klassen already, please check him out. His picture books are for adults too.

So before reading this book, I’d never seen the movie adaptation, so I did not know what to expect, but it was recommended to me a lot. This is definitely a children’s book for older kids and adults. It is kind of a spooky fairytale.

After reading the book, I watched the movie and the movie is amazing, but the book is definitely even better!

I will definitely read more from Neil Gaiman.

This is a story you should know as little as possible about. All you should know is that it is extremely atmospheric, full of emotions and Wonderfull character bonds.

Also for all the BookTok lovers, I think this would be perfect for fans of “We were liars”.

From now on I will read everything Nina LaCour writes.

This is a young adult novel that will stick with me for a very long time. I really love how grief and loneliness, and also friendship and sexuality, are depicted here. It is so realistic and relatable and emotional. It definitely deserves the hype. And yes, it is more for the older young adults.

Read it, read it, read it (if you haven’t already)!

This book takes place in the same universe as “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”, which is one of my all time favorite books, and it is almost as incredible. Instead of diving into Hollywood, we learn a lot about what it is to be a family in the spotlight and about serfing. I was so invested in all the characters and there were so many secrets between siblings and friends that the story was just so addicting. And all the talks about what it means to be a family and to love each other no matter what, really spoke to me.

This book is just so good! Read it!

This book ist just so incredible, I get emotional just by talking about how much I love it. It is a wonderful blend of fantasy, historical fiction and contemporary fiction. The writing style is so beautiful and the main characters are all some of my absolute favorite book characters ever. As a woman, you can fully relate to Addie and understand why she made that deal with the “devil”. The book is about freedom, about love and most importantly about loneliness. V.E. Schwab captures the feeling of loneliness so very well that it hurt. The book has also the most beautiful ending I’ve ever read.

It is my 5th book by V.E. Schwab and by far the best, even though I love all of them.

I confess that the book is a bit slow, but it suits the story perfectly.

I highly highly recommend “The invisible Life of Addie LaRue”!

With this book I had a very unique reading experience. It was interesting, funny, relatable, weird, erotic and disgusting all at once. The writing is very good and addicting and the characters are complex and not the most sympathetic most of the time, but interesting enough to be willing to get to know them better and to root for them.

Milk Fed is about sexual desire, obsession, eating disorder, about being juwish and sexuality in general. All in all just a very interesting combination, that I really liked, to be honest.

This book is definitely not for everyone, but if you like to read weird books, then go for it!

Dieses Jahr bin ich zum ersten mal in die Welt von Tolkien eingetaucht. Ich wollte unbedingt die Hobbit Filme schauen, also las ich erst das Buch. Ganz unerwartet hat mir “Der Hobbit” unglaublich viel Spass gemacht. Die Figuren sind mir sooo ans Herz gewachsen (vor allem Bombur). Eines Tages werde ich mich auch an die Herr der Ringe Trilogie wagen. Sehr wahrscheinlich wird mir “Der Hobbit” jedoch immer besser gefallen. Es ist mein “Cody-Fantasy Read”, den ich noch einige Male mehr lesen werde.

This book was just everything I wanted. It has realistic characters you either love or hate, modern and complex relationships, a chinese setting and good writing. Exciting Times is a wonderful debut novel by Noise Dolan, who’s a queer and autistic Irish author, which makes the book even more impressive.

If you’re a fan of Sally Rooney’s work, please give this book a try. There’s a huge chance that you will love this book.
