  • Ich lese, was mir zwischen die Finger kommt. Egal ob Fantasy, Krimi, Biografie, Wahre Geschichten, Reise Guides oder auch Sachbücher. Um meine Bücher immer bei mir zu haben, habe ich einen Tolino und trotzdem noch zwei Bücherregale mit den Büchern, von denen man sich nicht trennen kann/will.

    Vielen Dank für die vielen spannenden Eindrücke zum ersten Leseabschnitt.

    @speego @pr_motion interessant die Diskussion rund um die Jugendsprache! Erst als ich eure Kommentare gelesen habe, hab ich realisiert, dass ich mir das Geschehen im Roman vor meinem inneren Auge so in den 90er/frühen 2000er-Jahren vorgestellt habe. Vielleicht wirklich auch bedingt durch die Sprache? So wie sich Lou und Sonny ausdrücken, klingt es für mich nämlich auch nicht unbedingt nach 2023 - basierend darauf, was ich so aus meinem Umfeld mitbekomme. @Alle, wie sieht das bei euch aus? 😊

    @Kessy und bei den Nostalgie-Gefühlen stimme ich Dir 100% zu! Die Erinnerung, 5 lange, faule Wochen ohne Verpflichtungen und Plänen vor sich zu haben - the dream. 😉

      @“Another_Bookstory” @Jack-The-Russell I feel your pain!! I always read before going to bed, so I read last night. I was by the part where Salama and Kenan married and went home to Layla. (I’m a little bit behind with reading) I cried so much while reading I couldn’t hold my book still, my hands were shaking. I don’t know when exactly I fell asleep but now my eyes are still swollen.

      I just feel so sorry for Salama dealing with her trauma. I started to imagine how she was talking, laughing, laying, hugging and crying thinking she was with Layla. How she was talking about Kenan with “her”. She was living 5 months all by herself but wanted to go to germany because baby Salama should have a chance to live a normal, happy life. I just want to hug her and make her feel better

      How our book club works 📚

      Our book club starts next week on Tuesday, 21st March. You should have received your reading copies by then and we can start with the first chapters together. In the meantime, you can already chat and get to know one another in the comments below.

      We’ll read “As Long as the Lemon Trees grow” in three parts and will discuss the different sections here in our conversation thread (in written form). We’ll chat about impressions, thoughts, themes, criticism etc. Once we’ve finished the book, you’ll each write and share a personal review of the book here in the community.

      Our reading plan 📖

      • Week 1: Until March 28th we read and discuss pages 1-130
      • Week 2: Until April 4th we read and discuss pages 131-281
      • Week 3: Until April 11th, we read and discuss pages 282-419

      The discussion 💬

      Since we probably all have a slightly different reading pace, we’ll always start our discussions on Fridays. That way we avoid potential spoilers during the week. I’ll open our discussions on Fridays when you can start sharing comments and thoughts on the chapters we’ve read. If you need a bit longer to finish the planned section, take your time and join the conversation at any point after Friday. After the weekend, we’ll then start with the next section, and so on…

      Q&A with the author ✨

      After we’ve finished the book, author Zoulfa Katouh will join our reading group on Thursday, April 12th at 6pm to answer your questions! The Q&A will take place in written form here in our discussion thread. You’ll be able to post your questions and Zoulfa Katouh will answer them live. So make sure to already think of some questions while you read. 😉 More infos on the Q&A will follow.
