This book needs to come with a sedative or a person that offers free hugs until you’re done reading, because the trauma just keeps on coming. For Kidan, but also for you as a reader. It’s the second book in a trilogy, so there is a lot going on and nothing will be concluded by the end of the last page. Writing a second book is always difficult – not for Tigest Girma though. I love her original ideas, the political intricacies and the overall dark and sinister atmosphere. The plot and world building turned out to be a lot bigger than I first anticipated. This proved to me that Girma didn’t just happen to write a second book but that she planned her character’s manifold suffering from the get go. Kidan, the main character, is the morally grey FMC we have all been waiting for and if Girma keeps pairing her up with Susenyos then I’m afraid there is no cure for my obsession. So, with utmost respect and admiration, I remain in humble anticipation of the third book.
