The fictional account of a team of British explorers and their quest to be the first to reach the summit of the (also fictional) mountain Rum Doodle. I stumbled on this book by accident and read it in a day - it is short, tremendously amusing with its cast of hopelessly inept and oblivious characters and their escapades. A classic among mountaineers, it spoofs the diaries of famous expeditions in style and content - it is a classic.
