I was so excited to read this horror classic, since I’ve only seen the movie as a kid. Back then, my older brother made me watch it when I was 11 years old (because he didn’t want to watch it by himself) and I think it woke up my neverending love for weird and spooky stuff.
It’s not your over-the-top horror you get these days, and information for research was not just a click away. It’s such an old book and it does show at times but it’s still amazing. What makes it so good is the atmosphere, the unsettling changes in Regans behaviour but not just the horrors of possession of an innocent child by Evil, but the loved ones not knowing what is actually happening. The demon knowing your darkest, deepest secrets, playing with fears and things you don’t want to face.
Big recommendation!!
