I didn’t want to read it at first because I literally judged the book by its cover.
BUT it was the complete opposite! I qiuckly got so hooked by Saeris’ story, the worlds, all the Characters and of course Kingfisher!
Finally, there is a Romantasy story where spice isn’t overwhelming everything else, where things happen that really made me fear for but also celebrate the accomplishments of the characters (except for Daya, please die soon, thank you.) We have humans, faes, vampires, witches and probably even more otherworldy creatures.
Kingfisher’s story is just as thrilling as Saeris’ and it was great to see him slowly open up to her.
The story is a bit dark sometimes with the feeling of impending doom, so having Carrion as a comic relief was a good idea and very well balanced. I was often so surprised by the plot and never had the feeling of needing a break and I cannot wait for the second book!!
If you love a growling Fae with shadow powers, the Enemies to Lovers trope paired with Fated Mates, you should not miss this one!
