I thought I’d give H. D. Carlton a chance with the prequel to “Haunting Adeline.” The blurb appealed to me, and I approached the book with an open mind. The book isn’t 200 pages long, and even that was too much. I could relate to the murders and their motives, and I liked them, so I gave them two stars. However, the whole spice thing was so inappropriate and too present that I just skimmed over the parts. I don’t understand the hype surrounding her books, and this is definitely the last one I’ve read. I can’t recommend it.
