Sally Diamond might come off as strange, pretending to be deaf so she does not have to talk to people, preferring to be alone and taking things people say quite literal. And when she burns her fathers dead body in the incinerator in their garden, chaos takes off. But there is much more to her and her past that she does not seem to remember fully and it is time for her to learn the truth.
It started off so strong! Sally has severe social problems and does not seem to fit in and over the course you learn why, and she learns to adapt and make friends and finds out she has more family. But as more characters are added and revealed, it becomes kinda repetitive at some point. It goes back and forth, people not understanding her actions, her going back to old behavior, Mark being incredibly annoying and Peter… well his story is quite interesting and you can somewhat understand his actions but him not willing to change or get help is just as annoying. The book took too long to end and it did not feel natural to me but more like forcefully extended.
It had a lot of potential in my opinion, but some characters and as I said, the length of some things took a lot away from it.
