Lulu and Gerald, both in their eighties, were once married but an awful event during their honeymoon ensures that they never speak to each other again even though they have been living in the same corner of Mallorca.
Eventually we find out what happened all those years ago, but not before we have to go through an awful lot of side stories and characters, some of which are pretty disturbing.
Most (if not all) of the women characters come across as a tad bit sex-craved, especially Lulu herself and, I am sorry to say, seem to have clearly been created by a male author.
Needless to say, the book is not on my list of favourite books.
Would be interesting to get a male opinion on it though.
