This cover sets the mood perfectly. Weird, beautiful, interesting. A lethargic vampire woman, her life, her struggles. Very modern, somehow relatable and nothing like anything you have ever read.
The writing is strong and poetic whilst remaining authentic and fitting the main character perfectly. This book explores a lot of different themes and storylines and deliberately chooses not to follow up on each and every one of them, which makes it feel more like real life than a classic story. A take on vampires I would have never expected, but as dark and creepy as I hoped it would be.
This book surprised me and I loved it for that.
