I started out a bit confused by the backstory, but the longer I listened to it, the better it got. The ending is fitting and the setting at the beach perfectly chosen. The gory descriptions of Old Joe Booth were slightly horrifying in a good way and left me slightly nauseated. Not knowing what the “Bedlam Bible” is, or not having read any of William Pauley’s other works didn’t take away from the reading experience at all. The book did at some parts truly feel like a piece of poetry or a bible extract, which I really enjoyed.
Over all a short doom filled story for everyone looking for a short horror story with a grotesque monster that is Old Joe Booth.
