Hannah is a witch in a Coven in Salem, Massachutes. There, she spends her summer working in a witch merchandising shop, avoiding her selfish ex and spilling her secret to normal people. But at a normal night and normal bonfire there‘s suddenly a dangerous fire in a pentacle and a animal sacrifice. Hannah fears that a dangerous Blood Witch followed her and her ex, Veronica, from New York to Salem.
First of all: When I began reading, I was very excited by this story: Salem, Witches, Magic and Sapphics? Perfect. But the story was a bit of a mess. Hannah tries to find this Blood Witch or whoever targets her Coven but other than saying she will find whoever does all of this dangerous stuff, she doesn‘t really do anything. She gets splashed around in the current of the actions, giving very little to none resistance. This was for me as reader very frustrating because everything just happens to Hannah and nothing ever happens because of her.
Also, I didn‘t really like Hannah. She blamed everyone but herself for what is happening and was very unreasonable all the time. The love story could‘ve been cute when the first part of the book wasn‘t 70% her and her ex fighting with each other. After that, the new blossoming relationship didn‘t whoo me anymore.
And I knew who the „bad guy“ in the story was about half into the book and afterwards the suspense drizzled out, especially because Hannah just suspected anyone and everone in her life without any proof.
All in all, I was hopimg for magic-y autumn vibes but felt quite disappointed.
